Tim Thomas: RANKED ABOVE KOBE BRYANT?? From #1 Player in the Nation to NBA Journeyman | FPP

Описание к видео Tim Thomas: RANKED ABOVE KOBE BRYANT?? From #1 Player in the Nation to NBA Journeyman | FPP

In the mid 90s, there was a high schooler named Tim Thomas, who at one point was ranked above the great Kobe Bryant, as the nation’s top player. Thomas was a player built in the mold of a LeBron James or Kevin Durant. He was 6’10” and a solid 240 pounds, yet he could handle the ball, run the court, finish at the rim, post up and was even a dangerous long range shooter. Tim Thomas had everything in his arsenal, and it seemed all but guaranteed that he would be an all time great. But once he got to the NBA, he underwhelmed and never seemed to even get close to his full potential. He would show you flashes every season of just how great he could be, but spent his career bouncing around teams, as he would often be picked up after a great showing, only to fail to live up to expectations. He spent some time in Philly with a young Allen Iverson, then teamed with Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson and Sam Cassell for his longest tenure in Milwaukee. But after this, he would spend no more than 2 seasons on any other NBA team for the second half of his career. He would have some memorable performances such as his 2006 playoff run with the Steve Nash led “7 Seconds or less” Phoenix Suns, but aside from that, would have an uneventful career. It’s not that Tim Thomas had a bad career, it’s just that everyone knew that he could be so much better, but you always take into consideration what’s going on behind the scenes, and for Tim Thomas, he spent a lot his career caring for his sick wife, even walking away from the game in 2010 for exactly that reason. So, maybe his mind wasn’t all there for completely understandable reasons; and at the day, he can live happily, knowing he still put in the work to set himself up to retire early, and care for his wife, without ever having to worry about money.
