Feel Morocco: Trip Ouzoud Falls to Skoura | Part II

Описание к видео Feel Morocco: Trip Ouzoud Falls to Skoura | Part II

Feel Morocco on this family trip from Marrakech to Skoura, passing by Ouzoud Falls, Ait Bouguemez Valley, Iminifri Natural Bridge, Ait Benhaddou, and Skoura.

We started our trip by driving to Ouzoud Waterfalls and spent the morning there. The path to the waterfall is paved with small shops and restaurants all along. We had a lot of fun with the boat trip and enjoyed lunch with a direct view of the waterfall. Then we drove to the sources of Ouzoud where local families chill and cool down. It's hard to believe these tiny sources feed a massive waterfall!

Then we headed to Ait Bouguemez Valley, known as the Happy Valley. I would easily spend a week there if I had more time. Staying in a simple and traditional rural area is totally my thing. We spent the night at the Kasbah du M'goun, which was beautiful with incredible views all around. From there. we explored the Collective Granary of Sidi Moussa. The strategic placement at the top of the hill was meant to protect each family's grain reserves. Not far away, we went to see the Dinosaur Footprints before driving to Skoura, passing by Iminifri Natural Bridge.

The R roads (regional) and P roads (local) weren't great. It took us double the time we'd planned to reach Skoura. It's not surprising we didn't meet many drivers along the way! We had a city car rental, so we drove slowly to not destroy it. We arrived by night at Jardins de Skoura. The staff were kind to wait for us and prepared us a beautiful table in the garden. All our tiredness from driving went away in a moment.

The next day we realized we had this beautiful place only for us. Apparently, tourists don't come here during the summer because of the heat. The place is packed during winter and spring when temperatures are more agreeable. The main reason I came to Skoura is to see one man: Mohamed Le Potier (Mohamed The Potter). Thanks to ‪@LePtitReporter‬ for making us discover this beautiful soul! If you pass by Skoura, pay him a visit. It's totally worth it. More than just sharing his passion for pottery, he has a contagious smile and gentle manners. You'll leave energized from the visit. You can find him either by asking locals or looking online for "La poterie chez la Famille Kabor".

Another reason to visit Skoura is the Kasbah Amridil. It was featured on the 50 dirham note. It's still well maintained with local traditional artifacts inside the fortified building.

From Skoura, we drove to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou. During sunset time, it was empty of its tourists and we had it for ourselves.

💡Lessons Learned:
◉Don't use Google Maps. It will send you to improbable places. Use Waze instead.
◉Ask locals for the best routes. There were some newly built roads we weren't aware of. Asking locals might save you a lot of time.
◉Rent a 4WD. You might not need the high clearance but for the rough road conditions, it will be useful.
