Training a Ride and Drive Horse

Simppa is a Finnish gelding who we trained to drive in 2016. He is also ridden out regularly by his owner on hacks both alone and in company. However, after having trouble at home with his behaviour whilst hacking out on the roads, which had deteriorated since he completed his driving training with us, he came back to us this summer for a refresher on his traffic work and for his owner to build on her own confidence in handling and riding him. In this video, you can see the progress they have made so far as a team, learn how we improved Simppa's confidence in traffic when ridden and gain an insight to Barry's approach to training a ride-and-drive horse.
