Rajya Sabha Election 2024: Cross-Voting Concerns In Uttar Pradesh And Himachal Pradesh

Seven Samajwadi Party (SP) MLAs in Uttar Pradesh cross-voted for the BJP in the Rajya Sabha polls. Amidst this the resignation of Samajwadi Party MLA and leader Manoj Kumar Pandey from his position as the Chief Whip of the party in the assembly has raised significant questions. His departure from the party's whip post comes amidst speculations of cross-voting within the Samajwadi Party. Pandey's meeting with Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh, where Singh remarked that Pandey was a supporter of Sanatan Dharma, adds a layer of intrigue to the situation.
Additionally, the absence of several Samajwadi Party MLAs from a meeting hosted by party chief Akhilesh Yadav has fueled concerns.
Reports indicate that at least eight MLAs were missing from the gathering, sparking speculations about potential cross-voting which could bolster the BJP's position in the state.
