The U.S. presidential election finally appears close to providing us with an outcome.
The slowroll could be due in part to this year's record voter turnout,... . with well over 150 million Americans casting their ballots.

2020's nail biter of a presidential election generated the highest voter turnout in the U.S. since the early 1900s.
Some 160 million votes were cast this year.
That's almost 67 percent of eligible voters,... as estimated by Michael McDonald, who runs the U.S. Elections Project.
This well surpasses voter engagement in 2016 when 139 million votes were cast in the race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
The last time the U.S. saw voter turnout this high was 120 years ago, when it was over 74-percent.
But keep in mind that this is not an entirely fair comparison since women and African Americans were not allowed to vote back then.
The 2020 presidential election is also noteworthy for the stunning number of early voters,... some 100 million.
That's almost twice the 58 million who voted early in 2016.
Some states, including Texas and Hawaii, eclipsed their overall 2016 turnout with early and mail-in ballots alone.
Also according to the U.S. Elections Project, Minnesota, Wisconsin and New Hampshire saw their highest turnouts, with all three topping 80 percent.
