Godzilla Battle Line: Mechagodzilla 1974 and Chibi Godzilla Meme Matches

Mechagodzilla 74 and Chibi Godzilla join the battle for season 24 of GBL! We already knew MG was coming to the game because like GMK his model was shown in a Twitter post for a vr game. But Chibi totally came out of left field. Both these units are super fun and charming but not exactly meta. A breath of fresh air after the stinky sweatpool that was Kamen's season.
MG74 is a 5 cost ground unit with the unique ability to disguise himself as a Godzilla unit when deployed. He has 3 disguises: G89, G04, and G21. When disguised he will move and attack the same way as that Godzilla normally does, scaling them to MG's level. Once he hits 80% hp he'll turn into MG. This is a really fun gimmick that basically allows you to use those Godzillas at 5 cost, but the trick is not letting them get hit. You're gonna want to bring Kamas to protect him. He also will not go below 80% damage in his disguised state which is a nice bonus. You can sorta treat it as a shield and use him to block a powerful attack if the situation calls for it.
The downside of Mechagodzilla is himself. After his disguise wears off he's not that impressive. He has two attacks: up close he fires three single target finger missiles, but from afar MG fires a beam from his eyes, and he can attack out of leader range with it. The worst thing about him is his attack speed. He's sooo slow at attacking especially when his disguise first wears off. He'll sit there for like 2 seconds before doing anything and by that point he'll be at almost half health. The other thing is getting G21. As we all know, G21 isn't great. He's easily counterable by many things and still has that awful targeting bug even after getting buffed twice. And being that he can only take a little bit of damage before turning into MG means that G21 won't be able to fire his lazer for that long. Overall MG74 is pretty good and very fun to use. He seems like a unit that will take some levels and skill to use effectively.
MG74 leader is also super fun and unique. His ability is the spinning head barrier that gives units around him health regen and a 80% damage reduction for just 2 cost. This is a pretty handy ability in a pinch and any unit can become tanky with it. It also has the ability to heal facilities. No other heal in the game can do that which is pretty crazy. Healing a facility means it'll stay on the field longer. So if used on Energy Base you'll gain even more energy and Mbaw base will produce a few more tanks. You could also use the ability right when your push is leaving the circle and give them the defense boost so they'll be harder to take down when they advance.
MG lead still has a slow attack speed though, so watch out for enemies and protect him at all times. Overall MG74 is a useful leader unlike any we've seen previously. I recommend running him as a leader over a unit if you really want him on your team.
Chibi Godzilla is a 2 star, 2 cost ground unit who is more cute than threatening. We love getting new non 4 star units, but it's always a mystery how well they can actually perform in battle. Nobody has high enough levels on them for ranked and fair matches are not exactly fair to non 4 star units. And without rented levels we usually just see Chibi get one shot by pretty much everything. Chibi has a meter over his hp bar like Burning Godzilla. His attack will grow bigger and stronger over time as the meter fills, going from a small flame, to a big flame, then finally a long range beam that hits out of leader range. You wanna treat him as an evolution unit to get to his beam state so protect him as best you can. On death Chibi is supposed to give a 115% speed boost to allies around him for 10 seconds, but it was bugged during recording and not working. Would've been nice to have since I'm literally just using him as a funny meatshield.
You need to keep Chibi alive for a long time in order to get to his beam state which is virtually impossible to do with his low hp. He doesn't have the long range starting out either so he'll just be constantly moving forward past all your other units straight into the enemy's face. You're gonna have to stall fat with him on some stray enemies or behind SpaceG. Sadly, Chibi doesn't seem very viable in battle. Even if he did have levels I can't see him doing much. He's too squishy to stay alive long enough for the beam, and if he does get there somehow your opponent can just Kiryu or Train Bomb him if they wanted to. Oh well, he's only 2 cost after all so can't ask for much. Chibi is however an S tier in every other aspect of the game. Model, animations, sound clips, meme energy, the boy has it all. There is never a dull moment with him prancing around the battlefield.
