What is your favourite class format? Recently Joey has been teaching a class all about attacking and controlling the back... for 6 weeks in a row?! And his students are getting better. He is also forcing them to recall and reflect on the previous class by sharing with their training partners what they remember about the positions and specific technique details as part of each class. Now this may sound really weird compared to the usual class format you know and love. For some of you this might be closer to what you experience weekly with extended periods of exposure to 1 position or skill for weeks at a time. There is no one size fits all when it comes to systems of teaching jiu-jitsu but maybe a new approach could be the breakthrough for your learning you really need.
JT went to an open mat and rolled with another heavy weight Blackbelt- and he got caught in an unexpected leg lock! Perhaps he underestimated his opponent's skill level, but now he wants revenge.
