Hypospadias is a congenital condition in which the opening of the urethra is on the underside of the penis rather than at the tip. The severity can vary, from the opening being near the head of the penis to the base, or even in the scrotum.

Symptoms and signs
Hypospadias is typically noticed during an infant's first physical exam after birth. Signs include:
The urethral opening is located on the underside of the penis, anywhere from the head to the base.
The penis may have a hooded appearance because the foreskin is only partially developed on the top side.
A downward curve of the penis, called "chordee," which is often more severe in more pronounced cases.
In older boys, a downward or abnormal spraying of urine may occur.
