FIBERSHIELD: Smoke Control's Fibershield Fire Curtains were recently installed in the Thomas Dixon Centre redevelopment, home since 1991, to Queensland Ballet.

Originally built in 1908, entrepreneur and visionary Thomas Dixon commissioned the leading architect of the day Richard Gailey, to build his boot factory in Brisbane's West End. In 2021, the Thomas Dixon Centre started a new life again, as an artistic and community destination. Architects Conrad Gargett, the Queensland Government and Queensland Ballet worked collaboratively to design a centre conducive to performing arts and community engagement, whilst retaining the original building at its heart.

Backed by extensive durability testing – in excess of 10,000 cycles as a single coil (no overlaps) – the Fibershield V system performance is well in excess of any available overlapped multiple coil system. This system is extensively tested for pressure resistance, providing the highest pressure ratings of any fire curtain on the market, is ideal for use in complex buildings with zone pressurisation and other mechanical smoke control systems.

Fibershield V has been widely installed throughout Australia since 2004. In applications where openings are larger than 12m wide, Fibershield V has proven time and time again that it is the only viable option available.
