My take:
The Clover is JHS Pedals' take on the Boss FA-1 FET preamp. The FA-1 was famously used by The Edge (U2) to create his unique pushed-yet-clean rhythmic tone. I found The Clover to sit well in the "preamp pedal" family along with pedals like the Hudson Broadcast, Benson Preamp, and others. The addition of the 3-band EQ is a nice touch – giving you the option to sculpt the boost further. This is sort of a kinder, gentler, more affordable and easier-to-navigate Colour Box. Loved the tones I got with it. Grab one!
