Bjerkreimselva - 2007

Bjerkreimselva is a river of just over 30 km which has a good population of Atlantic salmon. The river had problems with acid rain in the past, but after liming the watercourse, the population of wild salmon has returned.

The average size of the salmon is about 3 kg. But every year salmon over 7 kg are caught. If you buy a fishing license in Zone 3, you can fish in about 10 km of the river. So you don't have to queue on most of this river.

Here is some video showing parts of zone 3. Plus some video from the waterfall down by the sea called Fotlandsfossen.

There was about 15 cubic meters per second water flow. The river is best fished from about 80 cubic meters per second to 20 cubic meters per second. The river is regulated but not much. So rainy weather can change the river quickly.

Video resolution 512x288 so best to watch in small format/screen
