The Lively Crowd at Lausanne’s Stade Olympique de la Pontaise were presented with the Electrifying Excitement of the Men’s 3000m.

The event took place at 20:50 (Local Time) under negligible wind. The Temperature was of 19°C (66.2°F). The City of Lausanne is located at an Elevation of 526 meters (1,726 feet) above sea level on the shores of Lake Geneva.

The event featured eighteen competitors including two Pace Makers (Vincent Kibet, Erik Sowinski), sixteen of them were Tokyo Olympians in four events: 1500m, 5000m, 10000m and the 3000m Steeplechase.

Four Competitors were Olympians in the 1500m: Filip Ingebrigtsen (Norway), including three 1500m Olympic Finalists: Abel Kipsang (Kenya), Stewart McSweyn (Australia), and the Men’s 1500m Olympic Champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway).

Six Competitors were Olympians in the 5000m: Jonas Raess (Switzerland), including five 5000m Olympic Finalists: Birhanu Balew (Bahrain), Grant Fisher (USA), Nicholas Kimeli (Kenya), Andrew Butchart (Great Britain), the Men’s 5000m Olympic Silver Medalist Mohammed Ahmed (Canada), and not an Olympian, but, nonetheless a Competitor of Importance: the Reigning Men’s 5000m World Champion Muktar Edris (Ethiopia).

Two Competitors were Olympic Finalists in the Men’s 10000m: Berihu Aregawi (Ethiopia), and the Men’s 10000m Olympic Champion Selemon Barega (Ethiopia).

One Competitor was an Olympic Finalist in the Men’s 3000 Steeplechase: Getnet Wale (Ethiopia).

Immediately after the gun, McSweyn (Australia) and Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway) kept pace with the Pace Makers, and managed to get a gap of about 20 meters with about three laps to go, with about 2 and a half laps to go, 20 year old 10,000m Olympic Finalist Berihu Aregawi (Ethiopia) sensed the urgency and started bridging the gap to the leaders as Kibet (Kenya) the last Pace Maker steps aside after finishing his job, in a show of absolute bravery Aregawi (Ethiopia) engages all his cylinders and closes the gap to the leaders, with about 200m to go Aregawi passes the leaders, Ingebrigtsen goes on his wake and sprints hard to take the Victory in a time of 7:33.06 a Season's Best for the Olympic 1500m Champ, and an increase in time of 1.344% with respect to his PB of 7:27.05 (2020, National Record).
