Improved Water Mill with Steel Turbine, milling the locally grown grain faster and better quality

Several of RIDS-Switzerland/Nepal built Improved Water Mills (IWM) with a Steel Turbine instead of a locally made wooden turbine which needs to be renewed on average every two years. The steel turbine lasts 20+ years and mills all the various locally grown grains such as corn, wheat, barely, buckwheat, mustard etc. up to three times faster, and according to the local women with much better flour quality to bake their local staple food "roti" (chapati) on their improved smokeless metal stove (also a design of RIDS-Nepal). In this way the women do not need to mill their grain throughout the nights in a slow rotating, local wooden turbine mill, but they can easily mill their grain through the day. That not only saves a lot of time, the women are also much safer from the dangers (wild animals, falling into the fire they make to stay warm, and from unwanted male visits) during the long, cold nights, especially during the winter when the mills are used the most.
