Airfix Classic Royal Sovereign Part One -Rex Stewart

Описание к видео Airfix Classic Royal Sovereign Part One -Rex Stewart

For years I have pursued the sailing ships of the Airfix Classic Series in the hopes of bringing those particular models 'front and center' due to their presentation in the world of modelmaking. These were beautiful models in their time and attracted youth and adults all over the world in a time when hobbies ruled.
However, I didn't view these as just kits and/or a 'pass the time of day' activity. I studied them closely and thought that maybe one day I could bring out the best in them from a research and historic perspective. Over time that reality finally came by way of a local woman whom father passed away and left behind many ship model kits. And to that end, many were gifted to me which included all the Airfix sailing ships.
To honor her father, I chose to start with the Royal Sovereign (actually Sovereign of the Seas). I built my first in the early 1980s but never finished, but thought I would get the opportunity to do it again...It happened in 2019 - using some of the best research around which included the timeless plans from world renowned engineer Percival Marshall and artist author Bjorn Landstrom.
From those individuals, coupled with my contemporary findings, Royal Sovereign was finally realized in 2019...and immediately purchased by a collector the following year.
I promised the modeling community that I would publish a video but never got around to it. However, I'm fortunate to find the time to publish 'today'.
I hope my viewers can appreciate those forerunners that made the kits; especially this one. More will come on the following weeks to show how intricate this model is among those I've already fashioned (which I no longer have). My enjoyment is seeing others appreciate having them in their collections which, to my surprise, consist of builders!
That being said, I appreciate all of you for viewing and enjoying what I've been able to accomplish. Hoping that you builders will find value in those vintage models as I have since the 1970s.
Thanks for viewing!
