Despite not having any upcoming fights, Sean Strickland is keeping up with his training. Earlier this week, the former UFC middleweight champion shared a photo on social media showing him sparring with Alex Pereira. In July 2022, 'Poatan' famously knocked Strickland out, earning a title shot in the process.

Since their fight two years ago, Sean Strickland and Alex Pereira have become friends. Shortly after Strickland's knockout loss to the Brazilian, the two fighters met up and began training together. They've maintained a good relationship and continue to spar regularly. In his recent social media post, Strickland jokingly commented that Pereira doesn’t need to hit so hard during their sparring sessions.

While Strickland is taking a break from fighting, the same can't be said for Alex Pereira. Last month, 'Poatan' scored a knockout victory over Jiri Prochazka in the main event of UFC 303 in Las Vegas. This fight was notably arranged on short notice after the Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight was canceled.

Although Pereira hasn't officially announced his next fight, he has stated his intention to return to the octagon later this year, likely against Magomed Ankalaev. The Russian fighter is coming off a knockout win over Johnny Walker in January, improving his record to 18-1-1.

Currently, there's no confirmed date for Pereira's return, but he has expressed interest in fighting as early as December.
