Gangireddu or Basavanna is an old OX decorated and paraded in the streets of south India. People give it old clothes, rice and money as alms and receive it's blessings. There are street performances during festivals too.

A usual sight during Pongal. We were pleasantly surprised to see him during Dushera 😊

Year after year, we see less and less pairs of Basavanna and Sannayi appanna(The trainer who plays shehnai) I wish they still thrive for many generations to come🤞🤞💪
