Most, if not all of us, would have owned one especially when we were young. They are soft, cuddly, huggable and usually our constant companion day and night. That’s right, it’s our BFF the Teddy Bear! And Janice (of Umami Baby dolls) has over 100 of them! Most of them are very unique and very collectible antiques and vintages even. Oh and by the way, do you know why they are called Teddy Bears? Well, in 1902, the US President Theodore Roosevelt was on a hunting trip. They spotted a bear but he refused to shoot it. The news got out and Clifford Berryman of the Washington Post produced a sensational cartoon. So, Morris Michtom and his wife Rose, who made stuffed animals, decided to make a bear to dedicate to the President. They called it… “Teddy’s Bear”.
