The Galamsey Menace: Illegal Mining In Ghana | Ebenezer Odame | THRIVE Research

Описание к видео The Galamsey Menace: Illegal Mining In Ghana | Ebenezer Odame | THRIVE Research

In this presentation, Ebenezer Odame, one of our researchers at the THRIVE Project, discusses the issue of unregulated small-scale mining efforts in Ghana, known as 'galamsey'.

Often underpinned by a range of issues, from unemployment and poverty to institutional corruption, it leads to numerous issues such as the destruction of natural habitats and the pollution of air and water, often leading to diseases and shortages of safe, potable water.

To this end, we explore the problem and discuss how it can be solved.

We hope that by publishing these presentations, we can inspire researchers to explore these topics further, and help discover the means to a thrivable world.
