What is Ramadan:

▪️ Fasting was ordained by God before Islam, for followers of Jesus and Moses
▪️ Ramadan was the month in which Qur’an was first revealed
▪️ It begins on new moon Crescent of the 9th month
▪️ Ramadan begins when sun goes down and the new moon arrives
▪️ From dawn we fast, until sun goes down below the horizon
▪️ No eating or drinking when its daylight
▪️ Watch what you say and do, be kind and charitable
▪️ If you are ill or too old or on a journey you don’t have to fast
▪️ Children under 14 don’t need to fast, but some start earlier
▪️ It lasts for the whole moon month of Ramadan
▪️ Many Muslims go to the mosque for the night prayer (‘Eisha)
▪️ After ’Eisha prayers, the Qur’an is recited by the Imam through the nights of Ramadan
▪️ The last ten days are special, because that’s when the Qur’an was first revealed
▪️ Some people stay alone trying to get closer to God for the last ten days (I’tikaf)
▪️ Ramadan is 30 days, sometimes 29, depending on the next moon sighting
▪️ When the new moon of Shawwal (10th month) arrives it is Eid!
▪️ Eid means the Happy Returns!
▪️ It’s a day when everybody realises Ramadan has gone, and feel sad…until it comes again!

Ramadan Mubarak, here we go!
A blessed month for hearts to grow!
The moon is shining in the sky,
We raise our hands and say “Oh my!”

Ramadan Mubarak, Ramadan Kareem!
A month of mercy, like a dream!
We fast, we pray, we try our best,
Allah loves the ones who pass the test!

(Verse 2)
Be kind and gentle, tell the truth,
Good manners make a heart feel smooth!
Be honest always, don’t be rude,
And thank Allah for every food!

Ramadan Mubarak, Ramadan Kareem!
A month of mercy, like a dream!
We fast, we pray, we try our best,
Allah loves the ones who pass the test!

(Verse 3)
Pray on time, don’t be late,
Salah is our golden gate!
Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr too,
Maghrib, Isha — we pray them through!

(Verse 4)
Remember death will come one day,
So we should choose the better way.
The Day of Judgement will be true,
Allah will know what we all do.

(Verse 5)
Jannah is waiting, bright and wide,
For those who keep Allah inside.
But Jahannam is hot and scary too,
So we obey in all we do.

(Verse 6)
Ramadan means we share and care,
For hungry people everywhere.
Give charity, help the poor,
Good deeds open Jannah’s door!

(Final Chorus)
Ramadan Mubarak, Ramadan Kareem!
A month of mercy, like a dream!
We fast, we pray, we do good deeds,
Allah gives us what our heart needs!
