Michel Foucault and Queer Theory

The most significant academic in the Western world in the past forty years is Michel Foucault. Foucault's notion of epistemes of knowledge, and the oppressive power dynamic inherent in the knowledge project of the human sciences, is the focus of the discussion here.

We look at his tendency to make sweeping arguments without providing supportive evidence (a characteristic of Continental rationalism that is a major point of contrast with the methodological empiricism of the Anglosphere) but also how Foucault has 'queered' the discourse of the Anglosphere and inverted our belief in the importance of free speech in the public square.
