AUSTIN, Texas — In front of a capacity crowd of over 10,000, the No. 10/11 Texas women's basketball team spurted out to a 15-3 lead and never looked back as they took down No. 11/12 UConn, 80-68 on Sunday at Moody Center.

The win for the Longhorns was their first over UConn in program history.

Rori Harmon scored seven of her 27 points in the opening run and tied her career-high with 13 assists. Harmon moved into the top-five in program history for career assists and now 481.

Freshman Madison Booker notched a season-high 20 points and added four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Amina Muhammad tallied 15 points and eight rebounds, including six offensive rebounds.

Harmon took a charge with 28 seconds left in the second quarter that fired up her teammates and took Texas into halftime with a 41-27 lead.

In the fourth quarter UConn cut the Texas lead to six at 74-68 but the Longhorns responded as Muhammad grabbed an offensive rebounds and put it back to give Texas a 76-68 lead with 1:02 to play.

Up next the Longhorns will host Long Beach State on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Moody Center.

Postgame Notes

• Texas claims its first program win over the UConn Huskies, remaining unbeaten and improving to 9-0 for the season.

• In the fourth quarter, Rori Harmon passed fifth place Carla Cortijo on the all-time assists leaderboard for Texas with her 13th assist of the night. Carla Cortijo had 480 assists in 104 games, and Rori has eclipsed that mark in just 76 outings.

• Texas forced 21 turnovers and only committed nine themselves, which allowed Texas to win the points off turnovers margin 36-8. Texas ranks first in the NCAA in turnover margin and the Longhorns are 8-0 when they force 20 or more turnovers.

• The Longhorns started the game blazing hot shooting seven-for-seven from the field, made three three-pointers, and went on a 15-3 run.

• To end the first quarter Texas kept UConn scoreless for two minutes and 58 seconds and without a field goal for four minutes and 32 seconds.

• The Longhorns dominated the offensive glass in the first half 9-1 which led to a 9-0 advantage in second-chance points. The game ended with a 16-5 offensive rebounding mark and 15-2 in the second-chance battle

• At the end of the second quarter, Rori Harmon scored or assisted 30 of the Texas' 41 points

• Similar to the first quarter, Texas finished strong, going on a 10-2 run over the last four minutes and 58 seconds to end the half.

• By the 2-minute mark of the third quarter, junior Rori Harmon had her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. It is back-to-back games with a double-double for Rori.

• With senior Shaylee Gonzales' layup to beat the buzzer at the end of the third, four Longhorns had scored in double-digits. Texas is now 5-0 when four players score in double figures.

• Sophomore Amina Muhammad had an important putback with one minute in the fourth which put her at career-high 15 points. She had a near double-double with eight rebounds and shot a very efficient 75 percent from the floor.

• Freshman Madison Booker scored a career-high 20 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Booker has notched a career-high in back-to-back games.
