Microsoft moved most of its applications off the corporate network and to the internet using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office 365. The migration is 96 percent complete, and there are fewer than 1,500 on-premises servers left to migrate. Although moving to an internet-first model and modernizing applications was the primary goal, the technology shift came secondary to the changes in employee mindset. Microsoft employees worked with leadership to ensure that moving applications off the corporate network became a priority from the top down. Now, the team has set their sights on moving all but a few apps and services off the corporate network.
