I purposely didn’t share much about the Minis’ skin condition because of the overwhelming number of negative comments I received when I previously shared Puff’s medical struggles—and successes. The experience with the Minis' skin issues really felt like a roller coaster: flare-up, resolution, another flare-up, a cure… and then another flare-up after that.

Now that their skin is completely healed and my vet has given the green light for adoption, I’ve decided it’s time to share this part of their story.

I’ve handled many ringworm cases before, but this was my first time dealing with suspected feline scabies. Despite extensive testing and consulting several professionals, we still don’t know for sure what caused the flare-ups. I even reached out to two dermatologists, but both were booked for over a month. The experience left me confused, frustrated, and discouraged.

Personally, I believe it was a combination of factors—one possibly being a medicated shampoo the girls had a bad reaction to. After providing the standard treatment, I began an elimination process to identify the trigger. I discontinued the shampoo, added a few natural skin remedies, and changed their diet to better support their immune systems. Slowly but surely, their skin improved, revealing their gorgeous little faces.

I also found a professional cleaning and disinfection service—not your typical house cleaner, but one that specializes in hoarding and biohazard situations. I plan to hire them after the Minis are adopted so I can start fresh and continue fostering with peace of mind.
