In US news and current events today, writer Layla Saad created a viral challenge encouraging people to confront white supremacy.

Layla Saad grew up in a mainly white, Christian community in the UK.
At age 15, Saad moved to Qatar and became a spiritual mentor, writer, and podcast host. In August 2017, she watched the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville from afar.

Aferwards, Saad was moved to right 'I need to talk to spiritual white women about white supremacy' — and it went viral. A year later, she created the #MeandWhiteSupremacy.

Saad posted the 28-day #MeandWhiteSupremacy challenge on her Instagram and thousands of people joined in. More than 90,000 people have downloaded the ‘Me and White Supremacy’ workbook
It’s now used in schools, office environments, and amongst friend groups.

‘Me and White Supremacy’ has now been published as a book Saad has traveled across the U.S. to promote it.
