Cheers From Home for Olympic Athlete Sarah Mitton

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canadian record shot putter Sarah Mitton is competing in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France! Residents of Queens County, along with Nova Scotians and fans from across Canada are bursting with pride for Sarah!

Region of Queens Municipality reached out to the community for submissions of brief videos so she would feel the support and community pride. Even though she miles away, she is in the thoughts of many, many people, and her hometown will be wildly cheering when she competes qualifiers are August 8, and finals are August 9.

Competing at the Olympics is a HUGE accomplishment and a testament to all the hard work training, passion and drive that Sarah has committed to her sport. She is one of the top athletes in the world

The video “Cheers From Home” is filled with hometown pride, and is intended to be a virtual “hug from home" as Sarah prepares to compete on August 8 & 9, 2024. We send wishes to Sarah to have fun, make memories, do her best, and, while we hope that she does really well - regardless of how she places, that everyone is so happy for her and proud of her!
