Beautiful scenes shot over the course of 2 years in four of the aviaries at the San Diego Zoo. Use closed captions for aviary and bird details. Great for virtual walks on a treadmill. The Scripps Aviary is the largest and first of the aviaries, first opened in 1928. This aviary features birds from the African rainforests and savannahs. The Africa Rocks Acacia Woodland Aviary also features African birds, here in a more woodland setting. There are some of the same birds which can be found in both of these aviaries. Following Africa Rocks, we will venture into another large aviary, the Owens Aviary. The Owens Aviary features birds from Southeast Asia. Finally, we will look experience the South American birds in the Parker Aviary.

The aviaries at the zoo are very expansive, and many have plenty of hiding places for the birds. This means you could go to any of these aviaries a dozen times and not catch up with all the residents. I have captured amazing video over the course of over 100 visits to these aviaries, in every season, so I am presenting almost every bird living in these aviaries. You will see birds flying, bathing, nesting, playing, feeding, and enjoying all of their natural activities. The aviaries are some of the rare places you can be in with the animals at the zoo with no barriers. Most of the birds are very at home with visitors and will buzz your head sometimes uncomfortably close. Other birds are a little more shy and hide out in harder to view areas of the aviaries. You may only get a chance to see these birds in this video.
