Описание к видео [Daily Gugak] Day 6 – "Gayageum Sanjo", Kim Juk-pa school

Literally “scattered melodies,” sanjo is folk solo instrumental music. Sanjo today is one of the most representative solo genres, comprising a set of related pieces for solo melodic instrument and janggu, a drum. A number of “schools” (ryu) are recognized, each based on the performance style of a master musician. Sanjo was first devised for the gayageum, a 12-string plucked long zither, and now it is played on all major melodic instruments. Still, gayageum sanjo is the most-beloved genre. Currently more than 10 schools of gayageum sanjo are transmitted.
