Описание к видео Investing in Humanity | Tunde Onakoya | TEDxCovenantUniversity

Investing in humanity might seem like a project that only international organizations can handle, however, as one who had been invested in by someone else, Tunde simplifies the process of investing in others by telling his own story and the story of his non-profit organization, Chess in Slums. Tunde Onakoya is the founder of Chess in Slums Africa and a Nigerian chess master, instructor, and coach. Chess in Slums Africa started is a volunteer driven non-profit organization which aims to empower young ones in impoverished communities by using the game of chess.
In Lagos, he has coordinated a variety of initiatives for children in slums such as Majidun (Ikorodu), Makoko, and, most recently, Oshodi. The youngsters participate in a two-week session in which they learn to read, write, and develop fundamental literacy skills while playing the game of chess. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
