Self Control in Dogs: Zen, Leave it, Impulse Training A Life Skill

This dog was surrendered to a shelter because of a lack of self control combined with poor socialization to strangers. This footage is clips from a series of 10 short training sessions. We have just started to add the cue and generalize to different locations. It is outdoor as there is less distractions, less stressful and it is quieter here than at the shelter. (In case you are wondering, this road is both a dead end and blocked off to traffic.) The dog has been adopted as a result of this video!

Zen is a concept that can and should be applied (deliberately trained) to everything a dog does.
