Both franchises are off to a flying start, making this a top-of-the-table clash. The Royals are placed second with six points from four matches, winning three and losing one. After de Kock's dismissal, Barbados Royals lost their way a bit before skipper Powell led the recovery with an unbeaten half-century, which gave some sort of respect to the total.

Maheesh Theekshana gave the hosts a solid start with the ball as the Sri Lankan magician picked up three wickets. Keshav Maharaj, Obed McCoy and Naveen-ul-Haq tried their best but experienced all-rounder Jason Holder failed to hold his nerve under pressure and saw the Knight Riders get over the line in the penultimate ball of the match.

The defending champions, Guyana Amazon Warriors, are breathing fire in all facets of the game and are the only undefeated franchise in the current CPL edition. They decimated St Lucia Kings for just 100 in 14.3 overs after deciding to bowl first in the previous game, courtesy of three-wicket hauls from Gudakesh Motie and Imran Tahir. Keemo Paul and Dwaine Pretorius supported the spinners in dismantling the Kings.

Tim Robinson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz went after the St Lucia Kings' bowlers to set up the chase in Guyana's favour before a few quick wickets just delayed the inevitable. Eventually, Shimron Hetmyer and Paul saw the team over the line in just 10 overs to defeat the Kings by 6 wickets.
