In his talk, William discusses that having a stammer and other neurodiversity (dyslexia, dyspraxia and mild autism) isn’t easy, however when you view it with a positive mindset that can change everything. William sees his stammer as his superpower as it gives him the opportunity to teach the world a new perspective of listening.

William has had a stammer his whole life, when he was younger he could barely say a whole sentence without stammering. Now his stammer is much better, and he helps inspire others. Over the last two years, he has been writing a story about how his stammer has been affected by the pandemic but also de-stigmatising the topic. His story has been published in the national press and all over the world. He has spoken on BBC News on live TV, his story was included as part of ITV News London TV coverage for the presidential election and was also published in the Telegraph. William Laven, 23, has devoted his life to campaigning and educating on the topic of stammering. Having a stammer from a young age equipped Will with a deep eagerness to encourage others not to let the condition hold them back. He is mobilised and impassioned to raise awareness about the impediment across the globe. In partnership with Action for Stammering Children, Will is a Stambassador who will not be put in a box. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
