Being a horse trainer was always my ‘dream career’ growing up. However, after losing my horses in 2016, I thought that dream was gone forever.

Rudnik was my second chance at that dream. Unfortunately, because it had been a couple of years since I’d last worked with horses, I was a bit rusty in my knowledge.

My first concern was over tightening the cinch on his first time experiencing a saddle and I neglected to think about how he’d then react to a loose saddle on his back.

This lesson was learned quickly and thankfully no one ended up hurt because of it.

If you’re ever in a situation like this where you start to lose control or your horse - LET GO! Yes you can try to wrangle your way through it if you’re wearing gloves and you KNOW you can out power them but the safest thing to do is let go. They’ll buck themselves out and it’ll save you from being drug through the dirt behind them and possible seriously injuring you both.
