This is a great lathe for beginners and experienced turners alike. Plenty of power on this lathe for turning, and you can even turn outboard. Turning outboard gives you more capacity, and outboard turning is more ergonomic as well. Given the choice between outboard turning and normal turning, I would choose outboard turning every single time. Scooping out the middle of a bowl is so much easier when you turn outboard.
