The Avengers’ Vision and Scarlet Witch have twin children via Wanda’s magic. An extraordinary occurrence, considering Vision is a synthetic being and Scarlet Witch is a chaos magician. Unwittingly created from two lost souls, the twins are actually born from fragmented energies of the hell-lord Mephisto. Believing the twins are fragments of his own lost soul, evil mage Martin Preston, AKA Master Pandemonium, is manipulated by Mephisto into abducting them, but they are seemingly reabsorbed into the reconstituted Mephisto; however, the twins’ souls had been so transfigured by the Scarlet Witch’s magic that they temporarily destroyed Mephisto, and the souls are set free, believed destroyed. Despite this, the children are reincarnated as actual people.

Wiccan, born Billy Kaplan, is one of those reincarnated people.

When young, Billy Kaplan realizes he’s gay, and so takes a lot of abuse from classmates. With an encouraging word from a random encounter with the Scarlet Witch, Billy decides to stand up to his bully, John Kessler, when the next opportunity presents itself. Unluckily for him, the electrokinetic aspect of his powers manifests at that exact moment, and Kessler is nearly killed.
