WRITTEN RECIPE

INGREDIENTS
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup cake flour
1 tsp instant yeast (active dry yeast also works but must allow 10 minutes to activate)
2 tsp granulated sugar
2 cups warm water
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract

Toppings
1/4 tbsp butter (cut into a small square pad)
honey
pomegranate seeds

DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, add in water, yeast, and sugar. Whisk to combine. If using active dry yeast, set aside for 10 minutes to allow yeast to activate
Add flours, salt, and vanilla extract. Whisk until all flour is incorporated and you get a cohesive batter
Cover bowl with a towel and allow to ferment in a warm place for 1 hour
After batter is done fermenting, preheat a pan on medium high heat and add thin layer of oil
Test oil with a bit of batter, if it starts bubbling then it is ready
Scoop a ladle of batter and pour into center of pan
Fry one side of cake for 2 minutes then flip and fry other side for 2 minutes
Set finished cakes on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil
To assemble, stack 4 cakes on top of each other on a plate. Place pad of butter on top and drizzle generously with honey and pomegranate seeds
