Ultimate Alps.tw Type 0A2 Sound Test on ADK64, Zenith Z150 & Tofu60!

Описание к видео Ultimate Alps.tw Type 0A2 Sound Test on ADK64, Zenith Z150 & Tofu60!

Here's the Ultimate Alps.tw Type 0A2 Switch Sound Test and Review. This clicky switch is part of the unbranded Alps four-tab clones familly. I conducted detailed sound tests using the ADK64 keyboard, Zenith Z150 keyboard, and Tofu60 case, comparing it with other Alps switches in a controlled environment to provide a clear understanding of its acoustic profile on a full mechanical keyboard. Other switches will be tested in this Ultimate Alps Switches Series, with a comparison video featuring all switches back-to-back at the end! The state of these switches was around 9.5 out of 10. I also provide close-up shots of every part of the disassembled switch for detailed comparison. Outemu OTM GAOTE and Matias switches will also be tested in this series for a better comparison.

All switches have been opened and softly cleaned (every part brushed) without any alterations. Switch sets are used and old, so the sound could differ from switches in a different state, but all switches are at least in a 7.5 out of 10 state. The comparison is not perfect, but it gives a good idea. The estimated price is based on averaging the prices asked on Mechmarket between 2019 and 2024; it serves as an indicator.

The sound tests for these Alps.tw Type 0A2 switches were conducted using an ADK64 keyboard with Apple Extended Keyboard PBT Keycaps, a Zenith Z150 modified with a ZENITHal PCB & Original keycaps, and finally with a Tofu60 aluminum case using the Paladin64 PCB and Tai-Hao Cubic Alps Double-Shot keycaps. During the tests, I performed a typing test and a slow bottom-out test to showcase the switch's sound and feel. I also conducted a decibel meter test to measure the switch's noise level with and without a keycap.

I've been working on this series of videos for the last two years... It took a lot of time to find and desolder switches from non-working keyboards and clean each one of them... And it cost a lot too! 😛 I thought it would be great to have a full comparison of these vintage switches while documenting it. Hope you enjoy it and find it useful!

** I made a slight modification to the Tofu60 to fit the Paladin64 PCB and plate from the ADK64 inside. The only thing I had to modify was the USB port opening at the back! All the screw holes fit perfectly!
