Stop Teaching Your Child to Memorize Sight Words

When it comes to teaching sight words, a lot of folks get this very wrong. And I get it. Sight words are generally easy to teach and easy to track their progress. And it feels really good when your little one learns one. But if they don't know how to actually READ words on their own before teaching them to MEMORIZE these sight words, then you could be doing them more harm than good.

I mentioned "millions of words" in English and then Googled after recording to see if that was right. I found one source that said 171, 476 words and another that said about 470,000 words. Either way: it's not "millions" of words but is still quite a lot to memorize.
