I’ll cover a list of great student discounts that, when used together, can save you up to $100 per month. Many of these discounts just require that you have a .edu email address.
First, let’s go over digital subscription discounts, many of which I have personally used.
The first discount I used is Amazon Prime Student. With Prime Student, you get the first 6 months free. After that, it’s just $6.49/month (or $59/year if you pay annually).
Being a member gets you free two-day shipping on most items, free unlimited photo storage, free streaming of thousands of TV shows and movies, and lots of other cool perks.
The second discount I used was Spotify Premium Student + Hulu + SHOWTIME. You can get Spotify Premium, Hulu, and SHOWTIME for just $4.99/month.
The next discount I found was Apple Music. Since I already used Spotify, I didn’t take advantage of the Apple Music student discount.
You can get Apple music for just $4.99/month (instead of the regular $9.99).
Another great student discount is with Costco. As a student, shopping at Costco is a great way to shop for items in bulk for yourself or for the dorm or apartment. College students receive a $20 Costco Shop Card when they join as a new member.
A great educational student discount is SkillShare. For context, Skillshare is an online learning community with thousands of classes in design, photography, video, writing, and more.
Right now, they’re offering high school and college students 2 free months of Premium Membership to make it easy to learn new skills in the comfort of home.
Another great educational student discount is Treehouse. Treehouse offers you a library of courses on any coding topic you can think of, all taught by experts. They also offer many student perks from FreshBooks, InVision, and more.
A third great educational student discount is Codecademy. Eligible college students can get complete access to their interactive curriculum for software engineering and data science for more than 35% off the regular price.
One discount that you may not have thought of is Amtrak. It’s a viable way to get around some parts of the U.S. Students can get 15% or 25% off of Amtrak rides in certain regions.
Another great educational student discount is LinkedIn Learning. There’s a step-by-step guide on how to get it for free for college students.
A great student plan for car rentals is with Zipcar. Depending on the university you attend, you can take advantage of their student plan with driving rates from $8.50/hr and $69/day.
For moving truck rentals, students can choose Penske since Penske offers college students a 10% discount on all truck rentals. Penske also offers college students: free unlimited miles on one-way moving truck rentals, a flexible truck rental reservation process, and 24/7 roadside assistance.
If you’re a student with your own car, another great discount is for auto insurance. StateFarm has their Good Student Discount. You can save up to 25% just for getting good grades! And the savings last after you graduate from college, until you turn 25. Similar student discounts are available at other insurance companies, such as Nationwide and AAA.
Another great way to save money is by participating in the student phone plans. For example, Verizon offers college students to save up to $25/mo with two lines on Unlimited and get the iPhone SE on them with Unlimited. In addition, they’re offering the Disney bundle, Discovery+, Apple Music, and more on them.
