Sir Keir Starmer has been forced to dismiss claims that his top aide, Sue Gray, has sparked Cabinet divisions over controversial plans to revamp the derelict Casement Park stadium.

The Prime Minister called it "complete nonsense" to suggest that his Chief of Staff had triggered a row by pushing through the £300 million redevelopment in Northern Ireland. He insisted the decision on the bailout would be "political," amid reports that Gray had been dominating talks and sidelining ministers.

Casement Park in west Belfast is set to host five football matches when the UK and Ireland co-host Euro 2028. However, the former hurling and Gaelic football venue has been closed for over a decade, and a massive investment is needed to get it ready in time for the tournament.
