Richel Monpellier highlights the transformative power of collective action and self-belief. She shares her journey of overcoming barriers while growing up in what was once an underprivileged but is now a trendy neighborhood, and how determination can drive meaningful change in communities. After completing her vocational education, Richel was determined to continue her studies. She chose the Social Legal Services program and soon discovered that the subjects in which law was central aroused her interest. Studying with a six-month-old daughter was not easy, but Richel persevered and passed with flying colors. Today, as a successful entrepreneur, Richel wants to contribute to the feeling of happiness at work every day. She was recognised as a Rotterdam Businesswoman of the Year in 2021. Richel represents a diverse group of Rotterdam female entrepreneurs. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
