With a wave of happiness and relief surrounding the country with the successful and safe rescue of 41 stranded workers in the Silkyara tunnel, an official from the National Disaster Relief Force shared his experience as a rescuer with ANI on November 29. Manmohan Singh Rawat of NDRF said that despite being a part of several rescue operations previously, this operation was a whole new experience for him and his team.
"The moment I reached inside the tunnel, the reaction of the workers was extreme happiness. We used to keep reassuring them that they would be rescued soon. This helped them keep their mental state stable…the operation was challenging for us as well due to multiple factors…despite several rescue operations done in the past, this tunnel rescue operation was a whole new experience for us as well…we learned a lot from this operation…", said Manmohan Singh Rawat
