סיפורו המטלטל של אמנון, חלל נצר אחרון – ניצול שואה שנותר שריד אחרון ממשפחתו
אמנון גדל ברומניה, כשהיה בן 20 נלקח יחד עם הוריו אחיו ואחותו אל מחנה ההשמדה אושוויץ. כל משפחתו נרצחה, אמנון שרד עד לשחרור המחנה.
לאחר המלחמה, עם תקווה גדולה, ניסה שוב ושוב לעלות לארץ ישראל, עד שהצליח והגיע אל קיבוץ דורות ב-1947. בקיבוץ הוא הכיר את שרה. היא לימדה אותו עברית והוא ניגן לה שירים. האהבה ביניהם פרחה.
זמן קצר לאחר מכן, פרצה מלחמת העצמאות. אמנון התגייס מיד לקרבות, גאה להילחם למען ההגנה על ארץ ישראל.
במכתב ששלח לאהובתו, יום אחרי החלטת החלוקה באו"ם כתב: "יקירתי, השמחה רבה, אך אין לדעת מה יביא יום המחר".
אמנון, רק בן 24, נפל בקרב על בית גוברין.
נצר אחרון למשפחתו.

In Loving Memory of Amnon Zilberspitz

Amnon was taken to the Auschwitz extermination camp at age 20, with his brother and sister.
Only he survived.

After the World War, he repeatedly attempted to get to Palestine, until he finally succeeded and arrived at Kibbutz Dorot in 1947.
On Kibbutz he met Sara, the love of his life. A brief time after the Independence War broke out, Amnon enlisted to fight.

In a letter he wrote to Sara the day after the UN partition decision:
"My Dear, the happiness is tremendous, but we cannot know what tomorrow may bring".

Amnon, the last kin to his family, fell in the battle of Beit Guvrin, at age 24.
