On April 20th, 1865, John Wilkes Booth and David E. Herold were brought to this spot on the Potomac River by Thomas A. Jones. Jones gave them a boat and directed them to the home of Mrs. Quesenberry on the Virginian side of the river. Though they did not make it to Virginia this first time, the following is a video about the spot they departed from near Dent's Meadow.
