The University of Maine School of Law held the 2024 Student Impact Summit’s presentation of “The Refugee and Human Rights Clinic in Mexico: The Power of International Collaboration” on Thursday, March 21, 2024. In the presentation, Professor Anna Welch, Professor Sara Cressey, and student attorneys Sahra Hassan ‘24, Haley Brazier ‘24, Rachel Bruns ‘24, and Kendi Dykema ‘24 shared their experiences working in a groundbreaking, international initiative that Maine Law’s Refugee and Human Rights Clinic (RHRC) launched in October 2023 with Ibero-American University School of Law, Washington and Lee University School of Law, and more recently the University of Texas at Austin. Through this collaboration, RHRC student attorneys have had the opportunity to work with other law students in both the United States and Mexico to provide legal information to hundreds of asylum seekers currently in Mexico en route to the U.S. border.
