1. In Fig. 9.15, ABCD is a parallelogram, AE ⊥ DC and CF ⊥ AD. If AB = 16 cm, AE = 8 cm and CF = 10 cm, find AD.
2. If E,F,G and H are respectively the mid-points of the sides of a parallelogram ABCD, show thatar (EFGH) = 1/2 ar(ABCD).
3. P and Q are any two points lying on the sides DC and AD respectively of a parallelogram ABCD. Show that ar(APB) = ar(BQC).
4. In Fig. 9.16, P is a point in the interior of a parallelogram ABCD. Show that(i) ar(APB) + ar(PCD) = 1/2 ar(ABCD)(ii) ar(APD) + ar(PBC) = ar(APB) + ar(PCD)[Hint : Through P, draw a line parallel to AB.]
5. In Fig. 9.17, PQRS and ABRS are parallelograms and X is any point on side BR. Show that(i) ar (PQRS) = ar (ABRS)(ii) ar (AXS) = 1/2 ar (PQRS) 
6. A farmer was having a field in the form of a parallelogram PQRS. She took any point A on RS and joined it to points P and Q. In how many parts the fields is divided? What are the shapes of these parts? The farmer wants to sow wheat and pulses in equal portions of the field separately. How should she do it?

1. In Figure 9.15, ABCD is a parallelogram. AE is perpendicular to DC, and CF is perpendicular to AD. If AB equals 16 centimetres, AE equals 8 centimetres, and CF equals 10 centimetres, find the length of AD.

2. If E, F, G, and H are respectively the midpoints of the sides of a parallelogram ABCD, show that the area of quadrilateral EFGH is equal to one-half the area of parallelogram ABCD.

3. P and Q are any two points lying on the sides DC and AD respectively of a parallelogram ABCD. Show that the area of triangle APB is equal to the area of triangle BQC.

4. In Figure 9.16, P is a point in the interior of a parallelogram ABCD. Show that:
(i) the area of triangle APB plus the area of triangle PCD is equal to one-half the area of parallelogram ABCD;
(ii) the area of triangle APD plus the area of triangle PBC is equal to the area of triangle APB plus the area of triangle PCD.
Hint: Through point P, draw a line parallel to AB.

5. In Figure 9.17, PQRS and ABRS are parallelograms, and X is any point on side BR. Show that:
(i) the area of parallelogram PQRS is equal to the area of parallelogram ABRS;
(ii) the area of triangle AXS is equal to one-half the area of parallelogram PQRS.

2. yadi ai, f, g tatha h kramashah samaantar chaturbhuj abchd kee bhujaon ke madhyabindu hain, to darshaie ki chaturbhuj aifgh ka kshetraphal samaantar chaturbhuj abchd ke kshetraphal ke aadhe ke baraabar hai.

3. p tatha q samaantar chaturbhuj abchd kee bhujaon dch tatha ad par sthit koee do bindu hain. darshaie ki tribhuj apb ka kshetraphal tribhuj bqch ke kshetraphal ke baraabar hai.

4. chitr 9.16 mein, p samaantar chaturbhuj abchd ke antahsthal mein sthit ek bindu hai. darshaie ki:
(i) tribhuj apb ka kshetraphal tatha tribhuj pchd ka kshetraphal samaantar chaturbhuj abchd ke kshetraphal ke aadhe ke baraabar hai; (ii) tribhuj apd ka kshetraphal tatha tribhuj pbch ka kshetraphal tribhuj apb ke kshetraphal tatha tribhuj pchd ke kshetraphal ke baraabar hai.

(i) samaantar chaturbhuj pqrs ka kshetraphal samaantar chaturbhuj abrs ke kshetraphal ke baraabar hai;

(ii) tribhuj axs ka kshetraphal samaantar chaturbhuj pqrs ke kshetraphal ke aadhe ke baraabar hai.
