In our latest edition of MOUTHPIECE FEATURES, we will talk about the Giddings David Hickman “Big Boy” Signature Mouthpiece. Professor Hickman is not only one of the world's most respected trumpet pedagogues (and my former professor at ASU), but is also considered one of the best trumpet soloists of the last century (having released 19 solo albums and made over 2000 solo appearances in his career). His signature trumpet mouthpiece, the “Big Boy”, has a fascinating and effective combination of specs and features, resulting in a robust set of characteristics. I had a lot of fun doing the deep digging for this video - hope you all enjoy it!

If you're interested in getting this mouthpiece, you can find it online at gwmouthpieces.com for around $170 depending on which customizations you choose. I believe the configuration Professor Hickman used was the “Big Boy” with the Hickman rim in Satin finish.
