The eagerly awaited debut visit to the Mid Hants Railway of no.46100 'Royal Scot' coincided with the railway's Autumn Steam Gala, held on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd October.

'Royal Scot' was joined by the Severn Valley Railway's Ivatt 4MT no.43106 and the Midland Railway Centre's S&D 7F no.53809, as well as the Mid Hants' newly overhauled BR Standard 4 no.76017 and Ivatt 2MT no.41312.

Unfortunately, a superheater problem on the 7F meant that on the Thursday evening before the event, the locomotive roster was rewritten overnight.

Thanks to everyone involved at the Mid Hants for a fantastic weekend, even if it was one engine light. I recommend, if nothing else, watching the last shot of the video at Ropley of the Pines Express... one of my favourite pieces of film this year.
