Description:
If you are a vegan, you’ll know all too well how provocative it can be – you never know when you’ll be challenged or how. But being able to face down and rebut arguments against veganism is hugely important. Not just because many of the arguments lack substance, but because every interaction provides a pivotal moment to create change. This talk delves into the problems of dairy and how to talk about dairy, with the goal of providing knowledge and motivation to create a more ethical, kind and sustainable world.

About the speaker:
Ed Winters is a vegan educator, best-selling author, public speaker, and content creator, widely known for his viral debates, speeches, and video essays. His recents book are How To Argue With a Meat Eater and This Is Vegan Propaganda.

Voices in Vegan Studies Speaker Series
As part of a new Vegan Studies Initiative, Arihanta Institute is hosting an online speaker series featuring premier scholars in the field of Vegan Studies. The aim of the Voices in Vegan Studies (ViVS) series is twofold: first, to bring mainstream Vegan Studies research and ideas to the Jain community and scholars working in Jain Studies and Engaged Jain Studies; second, to expose non-Jains to the many ways Jain philosophy and practice align with veganism and how Jains connect their veganism to their religious heritage and identity.

The series will be spread out over nine lectures and cover four themes:

The Philosophy and Ethics of Veganism
Transitioning to Plant-Based Food Systems
Inclusive Vegan Advocacy
Contemporary Jainism and Veganism
