1969 428 CJ Mach 1 INTRODUCTORY SHOW UNIT restoration project.

Описание к видео 1969 428 CJ Mach 1 INTRODUCTORY SHOW UNIT restoration project.

This is our second episode of the build on this 1969 428 Cobra Jet Mustang which was purchased on Bring a Trailer and is a rare car (1st episode is on the play list). It was an INTRODUCTORY SHOW UNIT that the District Sales Office diverted to the Dallas Memorial Auditorium for the show per the original Ford invoice. All the show units were built the same. R code 428 CJ, C6 automatic transmission, 3.50 traction – loc rear axle, power steering, drum brakes, Candyapple red with black interior, tilt – away steering, AM/FM radio, and chrome styled steel wheels. The engine for the car wasn’t a 428 CJ, it was a 390 with correct Cobra Jet heads, intake, carburetor, and exhaust manifolds. A correct 428 CJ block, crankshaft and pistons came with it, but has surface rust. Will have to sleeve the block hopefully the crankshaft will clean up. The car was built 8/16/1968, and had very little rust but it had a lot of damage on the right side of the body and the left rear had a quarter skin. Below is just some of the work you’ll see in this episode, hope you learn tons, and remember to subscribe to our channel!

* Fit and weld quarter panels
* Fit and weld the full floor pan
* Fit and weld upper and lower cowl
* Rust repair on right front frame rail
* Welded patches where the lead seam was on the roof
