At COUR, Dr. Paul Peloso, chief medical officer, is leading the development of a novel, groundbreaking technology that could reprogram the immune system and transform the treatment of myasthenia gravis (MG). COUR nanotechnology allows reprogramming of the immune system away from the destructive inflammatory response towards a more normal, housekeeping status. By infusing negatively charged nanoparticles that are packaged with portions of the antibodies that drive the negative effects in MG, that being the anti-ACH antibody, the immune system can be trained to reduce its destructive profile.
